You might be here because…
You may be feeling overwhelmed, in transition, or carrying a quiet sense that something in your life wants attention.
Perhaps you’re navigating grief, questioning who you are becoming, or noticing patterns in relationships you want to understand more deeply. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, self-aware, and want more depth from therapy, not just coping, but meaningful change.
About Theresa Slater
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and DTATI Candidate offering virtual therapy to adults across Ontario.
My clinical experience includes hospital, community, and supervised psychotherapy settings, where I have supported individuals and groups navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, and life transitions.
My work is grounded in compassion, accountability, flexibility, and genuineness. I bring a warm, attentive presence to the therapy virtual room and value creating a container where all parts of you are welcome — including the ones still unfolding.
I support clients in exploring themselves with depth and care, drawing from both talk therapy and creative approaches when helpful. My practice offers trauma-informed relational therapy, and a belief in the importance of being witnessed and supported as we grow.
What I can help with…
-
You may be questioning who you are, how you’ve changed, or how you want to live moving forward. This can include experiences of identity exploration, neurodivergence, or feeling out of step with expected paths. Sometimes this is described as feeling lost, disconnected, or unsure of where you belong.
-
Grief can follow death, relationship changes, health shifts, or the loss of imagined futures. It may appear as sadness, numbness, anxiety, or a sense of disorientation. Therapy can offer space to process loss at your own pace and in your own way.
-
Periods of transition, like entering or leaving relationships, career changes, aging, or shifts in meaning or direction, can bring both possibility and uncertainty. These moments are sometimes described as burnout, anxiety, or a “midlife crisis,” but may also be invitations toward deeper self-understanding.
-
You may notice recurring dynamics in friendships, family relationships, or romantic connections that you’d like to understand more clearly. Therapy can support exploration of attachment, communication, boundaries, and the ways early experiences continue to shape present relationships.
-
For artists and creatively oriented people, creative blocks often reflect deeper emotional or relational experiences. Feelings of self-doubt, stuck-ness, or disconnection from creative impulse can sometimes be understood through lenses such as anxiety, perfectionism, or depression.
-
Experiences that are emotionally, spiritually, or psychologically significant, like psychedelic experiences or profound life events, can leave lasting questions, confusion, or even sudden insight. Therapy can support making meaning of these experiences and integrating them into daily life in a grounded way.
-
Sometimes there is no single problem to solve, but a wish to live with greater clarity, depth, or authenticity. This may include working through anxiety, depression, or longstanding self-critical narratives, while also making space for growth, creativity, and connection.

My Approach
Grounded in compassion, curiosity, and genuine connection. Therapy here is not about “fixing” you, it’s about being seen, understood, and supported as you grow and change.
I draw from trauma-informed, relational, narrative, and art therapy approaches, and may integrate mindfulness, somatic awareness, and symbolic exploration when helpful.
